Mosaics, Sculpture, and Mobiles
Mosaics are Barbara's latest passion.
Several years ago she was in Costa Rica, staying at Peter and Mary Jo's (brother and sister-in-law) house. Mary Jo wanted to have a mosaic on an outdoor cement table. Why not, we said? The mosaic toucan table led to mosaic pieces on the columns of the bridge leading to their house.
Back in the States, Barbara has found many public spots which need a mosaic art piece, including a large LOVE mosaic and a Stop Single Use Plastic mosaic, both of which are mounted on buildings in Harrisonburg.
Barbara also makes smaller mosaic pieces to hang in windows. She has started teaching mosaics, too.
Sculptures and mobiles are an on-going interest. Barbara has made cement garden sculptures and smaller glass ones. An artist friend from Charlottesville has been teaching Barbara how to make mobiles. There will be many more sculptures and mobiles in the future!
